Charity starts at home

Volunteering is part of the AG DNA. Here’s a snapshot of what our WorkFamily have been up to recently – from helping dogs and cleaning rivers to supplying hot meals in London.

Charity starts at home

We visited the Dog’s Trust in May and again in August. The UK’s largest dog welfare charity rescues and rehomes dogs. Sometimes they need a bit of help too. A small team from Ambassadeurs Group (AG) worked on their environment in Harefield, Uxbridge. We created safer pathways for the dogs and added new calming plants in the outdoor areas. And of course, we had a little play with some of the puppies.

Refettorio Felix is a drop-in centre and community kitchen that serves vulnerable people in Earl’s Court. Our fantastic team of chefs from 6 Hamilton Place moved into the kitchen for a day in June to prepare a curry for the charity’s daily guests. They come for a three-course meal and include people who are homeless, isolated, or just looking for some friendly faces.

Reusing and redistributing food that would otherwise go to waste is the work of The Felix Project. Their tireless work includes packing and delivering across the capital every single day. AG volunteers spent a day in June helping to pack over 3,000 hot meals which were distributed on the same day across London.

Putting healthy rivers at the heart of the community is the aim of Thames21. It works with volunteers to clean and green the capital’s 400-mile network of waterways. Our team spent a morning clearing Himalayan Balsam – an invasive plant that damages the river system – from a site in Ealing this July.
